ABOUT

The work of Aude puts its primarily focus on the intricate relation between the emotions resulting from artistic intentions and the human body.

It revolves around an extensive study that is immersed and linked to social and existential issues, like the family, ideologies, weakness, education, and cultural attributes. The essence of this reflexion is to analyze the society and the effects it has on the human being.

The young artist has always felt compelled by the notion of experience which summons a stamina and an absolute determination to be resilient that dwells deep in every one of us. It encompasses the issues related to an individual’s lifestyle in his everyday life, as well as those linked to his constant progressive social environment, which entails many microcosms and diversities.

Aude Legrand was born in 1985 in France. She is currently working and studying in Luxembourg and Paris, where she's doing a Research Doctorate in Fine Arts at the Sorbonne.

After four years of photography at the Institut Saint Luc of Tournai(Belgium), Aude graduated from the Sorbonne University and is now  actively working as an artist.

In 2010, la Fondation de France and the Sorbonne have financially supported Aude and her art by allowing her to work on her projects  in New York for a year. She was selected to be part of the Art Studio Program at the NY Steinhardt University for one year.

During this time, the video-performance Leap of Faith was selected at the festival AMERICAN DREAMS/NIGHTMARES at Catskill in New York and in San Francisco. Confession was as well selected for the 7th edition of the Magmart international videoart festival. Aude was also part of several exhibitions in NYC and in Paris - especially the 80WSE Gallery and the Galerie Nikki Diana Marquardt - where she presented pieces like J.Doe, Thanato-kéropraxie or Sisyphus' meal.
